Where my name came from...

I ask a lot of my clients. I ask them to be open and vulnerable which is never easy. I ask them to tell me about them. Their likes and dislikes. Their strengths and their weaknesses. I want to know their story. I want to be able to produce images that when they look at them, they are brought to tears. For what they are seeing is not just a picture of them but a picture of their soul.

I realize that telling ones story is not an easy thing to do. We all have doubts and fears. Which is why I'm implementing this *new* little exercise for all of you here on social media. I'm not sure what I'm going to call it... (if you have any ideas let me know 🤣). But every Friday I'm going to reveal little truths about myself. Some will be silly icebreakers, some will be more deep, but all will be 100% honest and true. Because, if I expect you to be vulnerable with me... I realize that I have to do the same! <3

So here is the first one...

My name. I was, in fact, named after the little mermaid. My parents took my 2 older sisters to the movie theater to see it when my mom was pregnant with me. My dad REALLY loved the name. So he told my mom, "yup! We are naming her Ariel." Before that I was going to be named Alexandria. I am the third girl and all our names start with A's. Ashley, Amber, and Ariel. Did I get made fun growing up because of my name? No... not really. Other than the occasional "mermaid" which didn't really bother me. I've always loved my name. I even considered naming one of my own children after a Disney character just to keep that little thing going. <3 So now its your turn... were you named after anyone special or do you have a special story regarding your name?

Motherhood is something special!!!

As a mother, holding your sweet newborn and snuggling all day long, you think, "it cannot possibly can get any better than this." But then you get to begin every single day with your sweet little one staring straight up at you from their crib, grinning from ear to ear with their big toothless grin and its somehow even better than before. This is motherhood. This is the pattern of motherhood.

Capture this pattern of motherhood before it's too late. Message me here to find out more information or book your Baby's 1st Year Photo Session! A customized package where I photograph your child at different milestones throughout their first year so you are sure to never miss a thing!

Shifferd Family Session at Funk's Grove

The Shifferd family holds a special place in my heart. I used to be a nanny for this family while living in Joplin when I was just engaged almost 7 years ago. Macie (the oldest) was only 4 while Morgan had just turned 1, and Max wasn't even born yet! I love, love, love the kiddos so much! I can't believe they are getting so big (cue all the crying)! So when I heard they were going to be traveling through on their way up for a family vacation to Chicago, I of course had to do their pictures! Enjoy some of the sneak peeks of this family session held at Funks Grove!

Happy First Birthday Cooper!

I first met Cooper at a Christmas Mini Session in 2017 and he was such a cutie! I'm was so thankful when his mom contacted me about his first birthday session! The reason I do mini sessions is to meet new clients and give them a chance to meet me and "test me out" before committing to a full session. But deep down, I hope they turn into life-long clients. But my clients are so much more than that. They become like family to me. I love watching them grow from a family of 2, to 3, to 4, to 5 and then continuing to watch their little ones grow after that. I love watching parents discover who they are as a parent and watching them fall even more in love with their children as they become their own people. I don't feel like someone they just hire as a photographer. I feel like a family.

I love my clients and I SO appreciate who they are. Enjoy these sneak peeks from Cooper's 1st Birthday Session!

Welcome to the World Malcolm!

Little Malcolm joined big brother Micah and big sister Melea this February. He came into the studio for a little portrait session and I think all of them totally rocked it.

Enjoy some sneak peeks from the Saad Family Session!
