Where my name came from...

I ask a lot of my clients. I ask them to be open and vulnerable which is never easy. I ask them to tell me about them. Their likes and dislikes. Their strengths and their weaknesses. I want to know their story. I want to be able to produce images that when they look at them, they are brought to tears. For what they are seeing is not just a picture of them but a picture of their soul.

I realize that telling ones story is not an easy thing to do. We all have doubts and fears. Which is why I'm implementing this *new* little exercise for all of you here on social media. I'm not sure what I'm going to call it... (if you have any ideas let me know 🤣). But every Friday I'm going to reveal little truths about myself. Some will be silly icebreakers, some will be more deep, but all will be 100% honest and true. Because, if I expect you to be vulnerable with me... I realize that I have to do the same! <3

So here is the first one...

My name. I was, in fact, named after the little mermaid. My parents took my 2 older sisters to the movie theater to see it when my mom was pregnant with me. My dad REALLY loved the name. So he told my mom, "yup! We are naming her Ariel." Before that I was going to be named Alexandria. I am the third girl and all our names start with A's. Ashley, Amber, and Ariel. Did I get made fun growing up because of my name? No... not really. Other than the occasional "mermaid" which didn't really bother me. I've always loved my name. I even considered naming one of my own children after a Disney character just to keep that little thing going. <3 So now its your turn... were you named after anyone special or do you have a special story regarding your name?

Avery's First Birthday Photo Session-- Photos by Ariel Studio, Lincoln, Illinois

First Birthday’s are a busy time for momma’s! Trying to plan that first birthday party and then all the emotions that come with your baby turning ONE! I make it my mission as your photographer to make your life easier, not add to your stress! That is why for your first birthday session I provide the cake, the stand, the décor, the outfits, the props…. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. All you have to do is tell me what colors scheme you want and bring your ADORABLE baby! I take care of finding the outfits, ordering the cake, picking up the cake, finding the perfect props, etc. :)

Sweet Avery just turned one and every single image is so beautiful I think I can literally hear my jaw hitting the floor. I am a people-centered photographer. What I mean by that is that I like my subjects to be the focus of all of my images, not the background, not the props, not even the sky (when we are outside). When people look at this image, I want theme to see YOU first. <3 Clean, Crisp, and Timeless is always my motto!

Cake below was made by Emily Jackson out of Mount Pulaski, IL. Enjoy these sneak peeks from Avery’s First Birthday Session!

Amiyah is 6 months!

I've had the privilege of watching Amiyah grow before she was even born! When her mom, Katina, scheduled a 3 month session for her son, Princeton, she had just found out she was pregnant! So whenever I got to photograph Princeton throughout his first year, I got to see Amiyah growing in her mommy's belly! When she was born, her mom scheduled a Baby's First Year Session with me and so I had the pleasure of photographing her when she was a newborn as well! I cannot believe she is already 6 months old. In motherhood the days can feel SO long, especially when you have 2 kids under 2! But the years are short, friends! Hold them tight and enjoy every season! Her are some sneak peeks from Katina's session with her beautiful family!

Motherhood is something special!!!

As a mother, holding your sweet newborn and snuggling all day long, you think, "it cannot possibly can get any better than this." But then you get to begin every single day with your sweet little one staring straight up at you from their crib, grinning from ear to ear with their big toothless grin and its somehow even better than before. This is motherhood. This is the pattern of motherhood.

Capture this pattern of motherhood before it's too late. Message me here to find out more information or book your Baby's 1st Year Photo Session! A customized package where I photograph your child at different milestones throughout their first year so you are sure to never miss a thing!

Shifferd Family Session at Funk's Grove

The Shifferd family holds a special place in my heart. I used to be a nanny for this family while living in Joplin when I was just engaged almost 7 years ago. Macie (the oldest) was only 4 while Morgan had just turned 1, and Max wasn't even born yet! I love, love, love the kiddos so much! I can't believe they are getting so big (cue all the crying)! So when I heard they were going to be traveling through on their way up for a family vacation to Chicago, I of course had to do their pictures! Enjoy some of the sneak peeks of this family session held at Funks Grove!
